Koh Pha-Ngan

Koh Pha-Ngan is one of the few unspoiled islands in Thailand where people still live much as they have always done close to the rhythm of nature and under the protection of age-old spirits. Here most people follow the rhythm of the daylight - waking at sunrise and turning in shortly after nightfall. This is the perfect place for the traveller who wants to go somewhere off the beaten track.

With its beautiful beaches and lush mountains, the island offers a haven of tranquillity and discovery – perfect for a holiday. When you are tired of the beach, small roads, trails, and mountain tracks twist and wind their way through the splendours and vistas of the largely untouched landscape – and the beautiful waterfalls. In the mountains there are trails and walks to follow. You can also have a guide to take you for a longer trek perhaps to the top of the island.

Or you may go snorkelling and diving to admire the beauty of the coral reefs that surrounds the south and west coast of the island – or just take a trip around the island in a long-tail boat. The Than Sadet National Park and the nearby Koh Tao and Ang Thong archipelago with more than 40 islands of pristine beaches, natural limestone caves and the tranquil Tha Laem Nai - a salt water blue lagoon lake. These areas provide fantastic opportunities for exploration and for snorkeling and diving.

Sunset

Koh Phangan

The south of Koh Pha-Ngan, Haad Rin, is dominated by steep and lush granite mountains with steep cliffs that run down to the coast. Here you can swim all year round.

On the east side of the peninsula is the famous Haad Rin Nok Beach with all the glittering life of beach sports and beach bars. The beaches on the east coast are all connected by a footpath, which makes for a wonderful, leisurely walk.

The west side of the peninsula - only a short walk away - is most more tranquil. Here there are no clubs but cozy beach bars and many small restaurants. On the west side you find the long curving bays of Ao Bangson, Ao Hin-Lor and Haad Seekantang. On this side of the island you find traces of mangrove forest and leaning coconut palms, and the beaches are mostly deserted – perfect for sunbathing, swimming and daydreaming.

The Vimarn Samut resort lies directly down to Haad Rin Nai (the Sunset Beach) - a white sandy beach that also lies on the west coast of the Had Rin peninsula.

Only 3 1/2 hours from Bangkok - the fastest travel option takes you by plane from Bangkok to Koh Samui (there are many flights every day) and by express boat from Koh Samui to Koh Pha-ngan (Haad Rin pier).

You may also FLY from Bangkok, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, or Singapore directly to Samui or Suratthani… or take a TRAIN to Suratthani. Sleepers are recommended.

Or you can take a BUS from Bangkok to Suratthani. VIP or Super VIP busses are recommended – they go directly to Koh Pha-Ngan.

If you arrive in Suratthani you then need to take a BOAT, a beautiful ferry trip from Koh Samui or Suratthani to Koh Pha-Ngan. You can choose between different ferries or the express boat.

Once you arrive at the international port Thongsala, just call us for a free taxi, or tell the taxi guy at Thongsala pier that you’re going to Vimarn Samut Resort in Haad Rin. The taxi ride will take you about 20 minutes.
